CHANDIGARH, OCT 4: As many as 530 patients with eye ailments were examined and 82 cataract operations performed by surgeons in an eye camp organised today by the Lions Club Chandigarh City at B.S.H. Arya Senior Secondary School (Sohana), on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.Sardar Rajinder Singh, Civil Surgeon, Ropar, was the chief guest at the camp where doctors including Dr Jai Singh and Dr Sarabjit Singh performed the operations. Another free eye operation camp was organised by the Lions Club Chandigarh Plaza at Kumar Hatti. As many as 200 patients were examined at the function which was inaugurated by Surinder Sharma, Divisional Forest Officer, Solan.
A blood donation camp was held today at the Rotary Vocational Training Centre in Sector 18. The camp was organised jointly by the Rotary Club of Chandigarh and the Rotract Club in association with the Blood Bank Society, PGI. As many as 102 people, including 23 women, donated blood.
The Chandigarh Press Club will hold a free medical camp for regular members and candidate members and their families on October 10 at the club premises. Specialists in the fields of eyes, medicine, pediatrics, orthopaedic, Gynaecology and skin will provide free consultation. Where required, ECG will be carried out at a subsidised rate.
