CHANDIGARH, OCT 4: The World Sikh Council case took a new turn today, with the court dismissing the application filed earlier by plaintiffs Baldev Singh Brar and Taleb Singh Sandhu to make ex-SGPC president Gurcharan Singh Tohra, former jathedar of the Akal Takth Ranjit Singh, former chief justice R.S. Narula and H.K. Manmohan Singh as parties to the main suit. It may be recalled that the above-mentioned had earlier been dropped as parties from the suit which sought the court to grant stay on working of Kuldip Singh as WSC president. While dismissing the application today, UT District and Sessions Judge B.S. Bedi said it was not necessary to make the above mentioned as parties to the suit.
On the last date of arguments, i.e. September 27, plaintiff Baldev Singh Brar had argued that Tohra, Ranjit Singh, Narula and Manmohan Singh should be impleaded as necessary parties keeping in view the fact that Kuldip Singh himself, in reply to the application, had taken the stand that they should be made party to the suit.
Brar also argued that one of the grounds on which former UT Civil Judge (senior division) B.C. Gupta had declined stay on functioning of Kuldip Singh as president of the council, was that the aforemenioned had been dropped from the suit.
It was also argued by Brar that the court was bound under the law to implead them as party to the suit in the larger interests of justice.
Meanwhile, Baldev Singh Brar today said that he was likely to file a revision petition in the Punjab and Haryana High court against the order of DSJ.
