Lower ST on sand, bajri, demand crusher owners
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PANCHKULA, OCT 4: The Bajri Plant and Crushers Owners Association of district Panchkula has demanded that the sales tax on sand, bajri, stone etc be restored to 8 per cent. This was stated by Association president Rajinder Gupta here today.Gupta said the government had increased the sales tax from 8 per cent to 15 per cent to recover the losses incurred due to liquor prohibition in the state, and this has effected their income to a great extent. He also added that this had compelled many of those engaged in the business to close down their operations, resulting in unemployment. As compared to the neighbouring states, the sales tax in Haryana is the highest, since it is 4.4 per cent in Himachal Pradesh and 8.8 per cent in Punjab.
