AHMEDABAD, Oct 4: A Human Resource Management (HRM) professional facilitates change, resolves conflicts and is the spokesperson of an organisation, said Director of Nirma Institute of Management Dr Om Prakash Gupta on Monday.The institute has orgaised a week-long programme on HRM. The theme of today's session was `Emerging Role of HRM in the Information Era of the New Millennium.' Eminent industrialist and academic Dr Prafull Anubhai, who was the chief guest, spoke on broad business trends, impact of information technology and challenges of human resource. In future, globalisation, improved efficiency, disintermediation, and disparity arising out of access to knowledge would be influenced by technology, communication technology and biotechnology.
He also said that planned growth would be possible only with the help of computers and challenge for HRM would lie in recruiting highly adaptive, skilled and culture-sensitive people, who think laterally and nimbly. Today's session was chaired by prof Pramod Verma, faculty of NIM. The speakers included Dr Jauhari Lal, director (personnel, finance), ONGC and Dr Y V Verma, vice-president (HR and management support), LG Electronics India Ltd.
