Tyson will bite again, if provoked

LAS VEGAS: Former world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson told a television interviewer he would bite Evander Holyfield again if provoked and that only jail had kept him from ruling his sport.

Tyson was promoting his October 23 fight here against Orlin Norris. Tyson said if given the same circumstances he would gnaw at a foe's ears, although he cited such details as a foe who was headbutting and a referee who allowed it notions which Tyson has maintained but few agree with. ``I would do it again if I see myself bloody and cut up,'' he said.

Perry scalps five

DHAKA: Off-spinner Nehemiah Perry (5-84) helped West Indies restrict Bangladesh to 229 runs in their 1st innings on the opening day of the three-day match here today. West Indies were zero for no loss in four overs before close.

This is the first time a Test playing country is making an official tour to Bangladesh. It achieved ODI status in 1997.

Serena beats sis

MUNICH: Beating your older sister doesn't come easy, especially if you haven't done it before. Serena Williams defeating defending champion Venus on Sunday to capture the Grand Slam Cup and a $900,000 payday. The US Open champion won 6-1 3-6 6-3.

Greg Rusedski used his big serve to overpower Tommy Haas in four sets and capture the richest prize in tennis, picking up $1.3 million as the male champion. Rusedski fired 29 aces to win 6-3 6-4 6-7 (5-7) 7-6 (7-5).

Third time lucky

COLOGNE: Kenya's Benson Lorkawa, second the past two years, won the Cologne Marathon on Sunday in a time of two hours, 11 minutes and 51 seconds.Poland's Elsbieta Jarosz captured the women's race in 2:34.22 with Germany's Iris Biba-Poschl finishing second in 2:36:38.

Lorkawa edged Carsten eich, the defending champion, byjust five seconds.
