The College of Social Work, Nirmala Niketan-Extension Centre conducts six month weekend `Certificate in Para-Professional Social Work' training programme in Hindi for youth interested in working on social issues.

Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysore is conducting short- term courses in food processing and related areas during October-November 1999. Ayurveda for senior citizens

An ayurvedic diagnostic camp for senior citizens has been organised at the National Association for Blind, Braille Press, Worli Sea Face on October 10 from 8 am to 12 noon. Free ECG and blood sugar estimation will be done to check for ischaemic heart diseases and diabetes. A team of committed Doctors from Podar Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital, Worli under the leadership of Prof K R Kohli will treat patients suffering from weakness, constipation, arthritis, reduction in memory, hypertension, diabetes, urinary problems, depression and loss of appetite. Adhar founder passes away

Madhavrao Gore, founder and chairman of Adhar, home for the mentally retarded in Thane, expired on October 4 at his residence after a heart attack. He is mourned by his wife, son, daughter-in-law, other family members, friends, management and the staff of Adhar.
