PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
NEW DELHI, OCT 7: The BJP today said it would support Telugu Desam Party government in Andhra Pradesh from `outside'.
The TDP had supported the Vajpayee Government last time but has not indicated so far whether it would join the Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition at the Centre this time.
`We have no plans to be part of the state government. We will extend support to it from outside,' party general secretary and AP in-charge Venkaiah Naidu told a programme on Doordarshan.
Naidu denied that TDP's stand not to join BJP-led coalition at the Centre and BJP's decision not to join the TDP government in AP was due to any `friction' or `tension' between the two parties.
`There was no tension between the two parties even during the 15 months of our rule. We fought the elections together. Our political line of anti-Congressism is the same,' he said.
Naidu conceded that while the BJP required TDP's assistance in forming a government at the Centre, TDP was not dependent on BJP in the state.
