EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
BANGALORE, OCT 7: Karnataka Chief Minister J H Patel, who was defeated in the Assembly elections, bowed out of office on Thursday. He met Governor Khurshed Alam Khan in the morning and submitted the resignation of his council of ministers. Accepting the resignation, the Governor asked him to continue in office till the installation of the next Government.

Patel was accompanied by State JD (United) president C Byre Gowda, Home Minister P G R Sindhia and Urban Development Minister B N Bachhe Gowda when he called on the Governor.

Speaking to reporters after his 30-minute meeting with the Governor, Patel attributed his party's performance to ``internal fights'' in the JD (U) and ``confusion and mismanagement of the BJP-JD(U) alliance''.
