AHMEDABAD, Oct 12: Sleuths of the State's Prohibition Department Striking Force apprehended a truck (GJ-6 V-4789) carrying IMFL worth Rs 1,35,000 early on Tuesday morning. The truck was signalled to stop near Odhav Soni Ni Chali crossroads but it sped away. The sleuths then gave a chase before apprehending the truck at Vastral. A thorough check of the truck revealed about 450 bottles of liquor.Authorities also recovered an RC book from the vehicle bearing the name of notorious bootlegger Anil Agarwal with the address A/36, Amrapali Society, Mahadevnagar, Vastral, Ahmedabad. Anil Jagdishprasad Agrawal alias Chachchu has been wanted and the department had registered a case against him and begun investigations.
Meanwhile, bottles of IMFL were tucked away in a specially built cabinet above the driver's cabin. This is for the first time that such a specially- built truck has been found, officials claim.
Between October 1 and 11, the Striking Force has apprehended five trucks with 28,511 bottles of IMFL worth Rs 1.18 crore.
