India finish last in World Gymnastics

CHANDIGARH, Oct 12: India finished last at 43rd place with 181.811 points in the 1999 Tianjin Artistic Gymnastics World Gymnastic Championship in Tianjin (China), according to message faxed by Indian international judge Inder Jit Singh from China today.

Vikas Pandey finished 158th out of 293 participants. He collected 47.169 points. Mohit Yadv (43.800), Rajinder Parsad (43.337), Mayank Srivastav (42.500), Sudip Jana (29.500) and Avneesh Kumar (15.925) were the other Indians who competed in the World Championship.

China (230.395) and Russia (228.145) emerged winners and runners-up. Belarus (227.631), Japan ((225.908), Korea (225.870) and United States (225.196) were third, fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively.
