Incumbent Civil Aviation secretary P V Jayakrishnan has been appointed secretary in the newly-created Ministry of Information Technology while Petroleum secretary T S Vijayaraghavan has been shifted to Department of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises.

The reshuffle, involving 26 top officials, has been carried out in the wake of establishment of new ministries and departments to focus on priority areas, an official spokesperson said.

A Joshi, currently additional secretary in Surface Transport, has been promoted as secretary in the newly created department of Road Transport and Highways while R Vasudevan, another secretary in the same ministry, has been appointed secretary in the new department of Shipping.
