CHANDIGARH, Oct 17: The local leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party today met here to examine the reasons for the defeat of the party candidate in the Chandigarh Parliamentary constituency in the just-concluded general elections.According to sources, the meeting was attended by the party candidate and BJP vice-president Krishan Lal Sharma, who lost the election to Congress candidate Pawan Kumar Bansal. Others attending the meeting included party's local president Dharam Paul Gupta, former city MP Satya Pal Jain, Mayor Kewal Krishan Adiwal and former mayor Gian Chand Gupta.
The leaders discussed the reasons for the defeat, which included open dissidence and anti-party activities, bad weather, internal rumblings, failure to fully encash on certain advantages of the BJP.
