Bail plea rejected in fraud case

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, Oct 20: UT District and Sessions Judge B.S. Bedi rejected the anticipatory bail plea of R.M Sharma, who allegedly duped one Krishna Sharma of Rs 5.25 lakh by alluring her into purchasing a society plot in Panchkula. He was booked on September 30 for fraud.

The prosecution stated that in 1995, R.M. Sharma, along with one R.K. Goyal, persuaded Krishna Sharma to purchase a plot in a cooperative society in Sector 5, Mansa Devi complex and due to persuasion, she paid Rs 5.25 lakh for the plot. It was represented to her that one R.K Garg is the owner of the said plot. Some documents were also executed in favour of another accused K.R. Deep and it was represented to her that the plot is in a society known as Shivalik Environ Cooperative Housing society. Later, however, she discovered that no such society existed.

The Judge, while rejecting the bail, observed: "For uncovering real facts of this case and also modus operandi of the applicant, his custodial interrogation is imperative. I am of the view that serious allegations of financial irregularities are involved in the present case and so no ground of release of the accused is made out."

Meanwhile, the bail application of another accused, R.K. Goyal, was rejected earlier by ADJ G.S. Sandhu and later by ADJ S.S. Lamba.

He stated that on December 5, he met Kuldip Singh, sarpanch of Gharaun village. That day he also met accused Jugraj and Kulwinder, who made disclosure statements. Kulwinder mentioned that he had hidden the kirpan used in the murder at some place in Mankheri village. The witness added that the weapon was found blood-smeared when recovered.
