CHANDIGARH, Oct 20: The Christian community in the city has protested against the Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad for objecting to the Pope's visit to India. John Paul-II is expected to arrive in the country on November 5. Friar Thomas Anchanical, the Vicar-General of the Shimla-Chandigarh Diocese, said statements coming from these (Bajrang Dal, VHP) leaders "at a time when the new Government at the Centre has just assumed charged, portrays ominous portends for the minorities.''Denying that Christians had forced conversions, Father Anchanical, in a statement, said, "All these years the community had involved itself in several activities in the service of the people."
