CHANDIGARH, OCT 20: Opposition leaders in Punjab on Tuesday called for the immediate dismissal of Agriculture Minister Gurdev Singh Badal on account of allegations of his son's involvement in a rape case. They also demanded a CBI probe into the case.Addressing a press conference here, Opposition leaders from the Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist) CPI(M), Janata Dal (Secular) and All India Shiromani Akali Dal (AISAD) demanded immediate action against the minister. This is the third press conference addressed by political parties on the issue and the second one at Chandigarh.
The victim and her father, who were also present on the occasion, alleged that the minister had kept them in illegal confinement. Joginder Dayal, secretary of the Punjab state unit of CPI, Balwant Singh, secretary of the CPI(M), Harish Khanna, president of the state unit of Janata Dal (Secular), and Prem Singh Chandumajra, AISAD general secretary, were among those who addressed the press conference.
