Rajat, Chetan give Delhi sound start in Cooch Behar

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, October 20: Haryana skipper Satish Ohlan must be ruing his decision to invite Delhi to bat first on the opening day of the North Zone Cooch Behar Trophy (u-19) league match at the Air Force Palam grounds here today.

Powered by an inspiring opening partnership of of 118 by Rajat Khanna (48: 8x4, 187m) and Chetan Sharma (49: 8x4, 190m), Delhi reached 258 for five in their first innings at close of play. After the dismissal of both the openers at the score of 118, Gautam Gambhir consolidated the position with a powerful 67 (13x4, 107m, 76b). He put on 93 for the third wicket with skipper Rajan Gupta (25) as the hapless Haryana bowlers struggled on the batsmen-friendly wicket.

Rajat Khanna, a trainee of former Test batsman Gursharan Singh at Gyan Bharati School, and R R Gymkhana's Chetan Sharma played the ordinary Haryana attack to give the home team a solid start.
