GE CAPS XI and Apollo Tyres Tornado XI entered the semifinals of the ESPN Star Sports Corporate Challenge Cup cricket, getting past their respective opponents in the quarterfinal games here today. GE Caps XI beat Birla Soft XI by 49 runs while Apollo Tyres Tornado XI defeated IBM XI by 23 runs.

Pargat Singh (43) and Varun Bakshi (31 not out) were the main scorers for Mount St Mary's while Nakul was another contributor for the winners.

Fine spell of bowling by off-spinner Yogesh Saxena (4 for 14) guided HUDCO to a 72-run win over P&O Travel India in the third Dattu Phadkar Memorial tournament at TERI Oval, Gural Pahari (Gurgaon). VK Shukla (46) and Ramesh (40) were the principal contributors for the winners while Rajinder Singh (26) was the top scorer for the losers.

Excellent bowling by Chetan Sharma Junior (3 for 4) and Vivek Khurana (3 for 23) helped Salwan Boys School down Bal Bharti Public School (Brij Vihar) by 10 wickets in a low-scoring mathc in the third round and reach the semi-final of the Chacha Nehru Super Six tournament at Salwan School ground. Yashpal Sharma (38) and Sachin Prakash (27) were the main scorers for Salwan Boys while Vikas Gupta (30) was the top scorer for Bal Bharti Public School.

Inter-Services basketball tourney
The 48th Inter-Services basketball Championship will be held at 629 Transport Company ASC, Basketball Stadium, Delhi Cantt, from October 21 to 26. Four teams -- Army Red, Army Green, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force will participate in the tournament to be played on league-cum-knock-out basis.
Bhatia Club beat East Delhi
Bhatia Sports Club beat East Delhi Club by 64 runs to enter the quarter-finals of the Jagdish Khatri Memorial Cricket Tournament. Naveen Negi scored 57 while Irish Saxena took three wickets for winners. Irish was declared man of the match.
