PUNE, OCT 22: A joy-ride in a autorickshaw for six men from Kasarwadi proved fateful as three of them lost their lives, while three others received grievous injuries when a speeding truck dashed against their vehicle near Khadki on the Mumbai-Pune highway last night.The mishap occurred at around 1.45 am opposite the military farm near Khadki Railway Station. The truck which was proceeding towards Pune was overtaking another vehicle when it collided against the six-seater autorickshaw.
Among the dead is the driver of the autorickshaw, who was identified as Mohammed Ali Kadar Pathan (29). The other persons who lost their lives are Mahendra Devichand Sharma (30) and Shreeshail Gurubasappa Tengle (30). The three youths who are seriously injured are Partayya Siddayya Swami (19), Moreshwar Bomnale (21) and Sadashiv Aher (20). They have been admitted to a private hospital.
Last night, the men viewed a Hindi movie in a hotel near Phugewadi. When they were returning home, they saw their friend Mohammed AliKadar Pathan who was proceeding towards Pune in the six-seater autorickshaw. The men requested Pathan to take them in the rickshaw. Pathan agreed, but they met with the accident on the way.
