Reshuffle in Haryana police
Chandigarh:
The Haryana government on Friday gave Vikas, Inspector General of Police (Haryana Armed Police), additional charge of Director, Police Training College, Madhuban, during the leave of R.N. Vasudeva. Pirthi Singh has been appointed Superintendent of Police, Rewari, in place of A.S. Chawla, whose posting orders will be issued later. Mamta Singh, ASP, Rewari, becomes ASP, Faridabad, against a vacant post. Inder Singh Saini under transfer as DSP, Dadri, goes as such to Palwal in place of Hukam Singh, who has been posted as DSP (AEC), Ambala. He has replaced Lachman Dass, who is the new DSP (Headquarters), Rewari. Param Jeet Singh, DSP, Mohindergarh, has been posted as DSP, Dadri, in place of Inder Singh Saini.

IAS promotion panel meets today
Chandigarh:
The Haryana government is holding the departmental promotion committee (DPC) meeting at Gurgaon on Saturday for promotion of the state civil service officers to the Indian Administrative Service. The meeting, which will be chaired by a member of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), is being held after a gap of five years. It is learnt that there are 36 vacancies, but the committee has the option to reduce or increase the number, depending on the requirement and whims of the political bosses.

Hospital complex master plan passed
Chandigarh:
The master plan of the hospital and college complex of the Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences, Jalandhar, was approved at a meeting of the governing council held here today. The governing council approved the structural design of the project. Chairing the meeting of the governing body, the Punjab Chief Minister directed the management to prepare a time-bound schedule to ensure the institute became fully functional within two years. The Director Principal of the institute, Dr Baljit Singh stated the institute would be constructed in two phases. The complete plan envisages 150 seats in the medical college and 1,000-bed hospital with scope for further expansion. The first phase would cost Rs 80 crore and the Union Government has sanctioned 25 crore for the institute.

Bhakti Yog Vedant shobha yatra held
Patiala:
Shobha yatra of Bhakti Yog Vedant Sant Sammelan 1999 started from Quila Mubarak Chowk and after passing through the main bazars reached Veer Hakikat Rai Ground here, the venue of the sammelan. Yug Purush Swami Parmanand Ji Maharaj lighted the holy jyoti with hymns from Bhagvad Gita and of Ram dhun at the venue. Devotees from surrounding area, including school children attended the opening of the week-long sammelan where discourses would be held on the teachings of Gurbani, Geeta, Ramayana and Vedanta.
