Weekend Retreat/Priya Tendulkar
Actress Priya Tendulkar, who rose to national fame during the 80s with her fiery portrayal of Rajani in the eponymous television programme, is back in the news as the outspoken anchor of the new avatar of Aap ki Adalat on Zee News, which features interviews with eminent politicians and newsmakers from other fields. From a crusader for social justice in Rajani to the tough interrogator of Aap ki Adalat, the progression seems natural enough for the spirited actress, who detests any form of injustice. But taking on the likes of Laloo Prasad, Mulayam Singh and Khushwant Singh is no mean task, and Tendulkar confesses the need to get away from it all every once in a while. While Goa is her favourite getaway, the actress finds even a day trip to a nearby beach a refreshing change from her frenetic schedule. ``Unfortunately, in my profession, weekends are a rarity and I end up spending my Sundays working,'' she rues. To recharge her batteries while in Mumbai, Tendulkar simply reaches out for her favourite leisuretools an easel and a paintbrush. Books and music are other sources of relaxation for this actress, who also loves to whip up a meal for her family occasionally. Copyright © 1999 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
