I want to market my music globally -- Baba Sehgal

CHANDIGARH, Oct 22: On a ten-city tour to promote his latest album Abb Main Vengaboy, rap singer Baba Sehgal, who was earlier supposed to start his tour from Amritsar, kicked off his tour from Chandigarh today.

Addressing mediapersons here today, Baba said he could not start his tour from Amritsar due to health reasons. Starting the tour from Chandigarh, he will cover nine cities -- Mohali, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Agra, Jaipur, Delhi and Calcutta. Answering to a question regarding his long absence from the music scene, Baba said he had gone to Singapore to learn recording by computers as he wanted to give a good quality album to his listeners. He admitted there was a western touch to his music, which he said was because he wanted to market his music globally.

Talking about rap, Baba said it is not yet popular in India. "No one knows here what real rap is," he commented.Speaking about a career in films, Baba said though he has had many offers, he is yet to decide on any of them. "If I work in films, I cannot concentrate towards music," he said. Expressing hope the Masti aani aani song in his album would be liked by people, Baba revealed that during this tour, he will also give live performances. Baba claimed that about a crore cassettes of his latest album would be sold worldwide. He said out of the total cassette sales in India, 70 per cent were in Punjab. The show which was to begin around 8.30 pm in Chandigarh Club, started late and the Chandigarh Club officials were seen making inquires regarding the beginning of the show.
