N Priyo Kumar of ITBP is best gymnasts

CHANDIGARH, Oct 22: Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) gymnasts hogged the limelight by bagging best all-round title in men's section in the 27th Chandigarh State gymnastic championship at Shivalik Public School in Sector 41. N Priyo Kumar of ITBP with 40.55 points won the overall first place. His team-mate Baleshwar was second with 38.40 while Lokhen Singh also of ITBP was third by securing 36.55 points. Results: Parallel bars: 1 Baleshwar 7.60, 2 Sourav Das 7.45, 3 Jasdeep Singh 7.45. Horizontal bar: 1 N Priyo Kumar 6.95, 2 Sourav Das 6-40, 3 rajesh Kumar 6.00. Vaulting horse: 1 Jasvinder Singh 8.30, 2 Gautam Bharti 8.20, 3 Lokhen Singh 8.15. Roman rings: 1 Deeepak Uniyal 6.95, 2 N Priyo Kumar 6.15, Baleshwar and Rajesh Kumar 6.10. All round: 1 N Priyo Kumar (ITBP) 40.55, 2 Baleshwar (ITBP) 38.40, 3 Lokhen Singh (ITBP) 36.55.Sports panel meeting Chandigarh Sports Director M Ramsekhar has convened a meeting on October 28 at 11.30 a.m. in his office in connection with the promotion of sports under the scheme of Ministry of Human Resource and Developement, Department of Sports and Youth Affair. A 10-member committee has been formed. District Sports Office O P Puri will act as the convener in the absence of Joint Director of Sports JPS Sidhu who will be on Ex-India leave. The other members of the committee are: DPI (S) DS Saroya, DEO Bhrahmjit Kalia, hockey Olympian Tarlochan Singh, Dev Samaj School-23 Principal Sumati, Chandigarh Volleyball Association president CSR Reddy, Chandigarh Handball Association president Principal Ravinder Talwawr, swimming coach J S Negi and basketball coach K S Bharti. Cricket meet The first PR Munjal Memorial cricket tournament will be held from November 6, at CRPF and PGI grounds. The winner and runner-up will get Rs 2100 and Rs 1100, respectively. Entries close on October 31, with Kamal Mehra, SCO-48, Sector 17-E. Simer excels Simer Kaur of Chandigarh bagged gold medal in the national junior taekwondo championship held recently at Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh).
