DAV Club-8 enter boys final

CHANDIGARH, Oct 22: DAV school Club-8 beat Govt Model School-21, 26-8, to enter the semifinal of boys section in the ongoing Chandigarh State junior handball championship at the DAV School in Sector 8. Shivdayal (7) and Mukesh (6) were the main scorers for DAV-8.

DAV Club-8 also moved into the last four stage by defeating Coaching Centre-35, 26-21, in a keen tussle.

In the girls section, Sri Guru Gobind Singh School-35 outplayed Coaching Centre-21, 14-4 to enter the semifinal.

Kamni with 8 points top scored for SGGS-35.

In the other semifinal GGS Club-26 beat Chandigarh Handball Club 17-9.

SGGS-35 win SRI Guru Gobind Singh School-35 thrashed Govt Girls School-23, 12-2 in the final of under-19 section (girls) in the Chandigarh State Inter-School handball tournament, today.

GNP School-36 beat GGSS-8, 5-3 to enter the semifinal of under-14 group.

GGSS-8 blanked GSS, Maloya, 8-0 to get a berth in semifinal of under-17 section.

In volleyball event, SGGS-35 beat GGSSS-8, 25-20, 25-11, 25-18, to win final in under-19 group.

Under-17 title went to GGSS-8 who defeated GHS-32, 26-24, 25-14, 16-25, 27-25.

GMHS-26 got third position by beating SGGS-35, 25-12, 25-12.

In under-14 section, GHS-32 beat MMS-21, 25-18, 25-20, 25-17 to win third place.

In basketball, SPS-41 blanked Ajit Karam Singh School-41, 20-0 and Sacred Heart-26 scored 12-0 win over Dev Samaj School-21, in u-14 category. In another match GGSS-8 defeated Dev Samaj (jr), 10-4.

In u-17 section DS-21 beat Sacred Heart-26, 39-10 and Carmel Convent-9 beat GMSS-37, 20-0.

In kho-kho (u-17) GHS-32 and SGHPS-40 entered the final of u-17 section.

SGHPS-40 beat GHS-45 and GHS-32 defeated GHS-35, in the semifinals.

YPS beat
St Joseph Yadavindra Public School, SAS Nagar beat St Joseph High School by three wickets in the under-16 section in the ongoing Edmund Rice cricket tournament at St John's School in Sector 26.
Brief scores: St Joseph: 152 for 9 in 25 overs (Virendra 50 n.o., Puneet 33, Vibhu 3 for 28, Simrandeep 2 for 17); YPS: 156 for 7 in 22.1 overs (Sangram 38, Jatin 3 for 35, Sandeep 2 for 26).
St Peter's: 153 for 5 in 22.3 overs (Ankush 25, Gurpreet 22 n.o., Anoop 22); NPS-18: 149 in 22.2 overs (Sunny 28, Rahul 20, Anoop 3 for 26, Sabir 2 for 33).
SD-32: 137 for 6 in 20 overs (Madan Lal 63, Manjeet 3 for 28); St Kabir: 139 for 3 in 17.2 overs (Manjeet 39, Sachin 29).
GMS-35: 133 for 6 in 20 overs (Shahnawaz 46, Amandeep 19, Munish 2 for 26); GMS-44: 132 for 7 in 20 overs (Amandeep 34 n.o., Ruble 25, Vinay 3 for 20).
Cricket tourney
Sixteen teams are expected to participate in the first Lions Trophy cricket tournament (u-16) at GMHS-32 ground from October 31.
