Century losses deepen further
ENS ECONOMIC BUREAU
MUMBAI, OCT 25: Century Textiles and Industries Ltd, a Birla group company, has sunk deep into losses in the first half of the current year. The company has incurred a net loss of Rs 43.45 crore for the first half of the current financial year ended September 1999 as compared to a net loss of Rs 38.58 crore recorded in the same period of the previous year. The company had last year made a loss of Rs 91.30 crore on a turnover of Rs 1949.88 crore.However, the net sales of the company went up to Rs 1040.97 crore from Rs 988.71 crore while expenditure rose to Rs 945.97 crore from Rs 883.04 crore. Other income increased by Rs 5 crore to Rs 27.71 crore and this includes surplus on sale of ships amounting to Rs 3.98 crore. Copyright © 1999 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
