MUMBAI, OCT 27: The Mahim police today arrested five members of a family accused of murdering their daughter-in-law at Dharavi on Saturday morning.The police found a mutilated body in a gunny bag near Mahim bus depot on Satuday. Part of the organs had been burnt to confuse the victim's gender.
Mayur Parmar, husband of victim Manjula, had also lodged a complaint that his wife had been missing since Friday evening. The police began suspecting Parmar as his statement revealed several discrepancies. Manjula, 20, was married two years ago, and has left behind a 10-month-old daughter. The arrested include Mayur, mother-in-law Amrut, brother-in-law Bharat and two sister-in-law Pushpa and Hemlata.
In another case, Kandivali police arrested six youth for beating a 35-year-old man to death at Charkop this morning. The unidentified body of the deceased was found near Kesar Co-operative Housing Society. The body showed signs of having been beaten up by sticks and cricket bats. The arrested have been identified asVikas Burman, Akshay Prasad, Biju Bhomick, Sanjay Tiwari, Ranjit Tiwari and Premshankar Yadav.
