Crime Watch -- Ahmedabad

Medicine theft case solved
Ahmedabad rural police cracked a medicine-theft case in which medicines worth Rs 10.66 lakhs were stolen from a godown in Aslali. Police have arrested Karan Gautam Sharma, a resident of Dehradun, and recovered medicines worth 5.5 lakh from Jodhpur where the accused had sold them. The medicines belonged to Numbros Pharma which produced and exported them. Company manager Maheshbhai Sutaria had lodged a complaint with the police after he came to know of the theft on February 16.

Child drowns
A one-year-old girl Sonal Dineshbhai Patni died after she fell into a water tank in her house at Bapunagar Abadnagar hutments on Tuesday morning. She was admitted in Shardaben Hospital where she died in the afternoon. Bapunagar police have registered a case accidental death and are investigating.

Dies of burns
A 28-year-old woman Kamlaben Devaji Rana, residing opposite Ghatlodia, Chanakyapuri, died on Tuesday after she sustained severe burns while cooking on a primus stove on Monday. She was shifted to Civil Hospital where she died. Sola High Court police have registered a case of accidental death and are investigating.

House burgled
In a house-break in Maharashtra Society, Mithakhali, some unidentified persons decamped with clocks, silver utensils and cash totalling Rs 47,000, after breaking open the lock. The incident occurred between 9 pm on October 15 and 3 pm on October 23, house-owner Milinbhai Shardulbhai Joshi has stated in a complaint lodged at the Navrangpura police station.

PASA detention
Three persons nabbed by the police early this month for allegedly cheating public on pretext of practising occult, have been sent to different jails in the State underPASA. Ganesh Baburao Batke, Ganesh Shankerbhai Batke and Gulabrao Batke had been caught by the police for cheating a woman at Hotel Rock Regency on C G Road.
