MUMBAI, OCT 27: The country's most popular singer Lata Mangeshkar is often seen hounded by eager photographers. But few knew her tryst with the camera. The newly-inaugurated art gallery in Vile Parle, Kalamandir, houses a good 32 frames clicked by the singing siren. As she put it during the inauguration ceremony on October 27, ``It is no great photography, but just my hobby. I do not deserve such admiration. Any amateur photographer can be better than me.''
The photographs include an odd mix of subjects, ranging from wildlife to landscapes to forts. Mangeshkar has also captured different expressions of children. A photograph she has clicked of herself, in a contemplative mood, adds colour to the collection.
Apart from the photos taken by the singer, the exhibition houses 35 black-n-white photoframes of her singer-father Master Dinanath. These photos, almost 80-year old, depict him as an actor in a variety of plays of his times. The exhibition also has a collection of six oil paintings by singer UshaMangeshkar, and water colours by Hridaynath Mangeshkar and his son Vaijnath.
