7 Army personnel killed, 20 hurt in road mishap Guwahati: At least seven Army personnel were killed and twenty others, including two civilians, critically injured in a road mishap near Nagaon on Saturday. Police said three persons died on the spot while four succumbed to their injuries on way to hospital. The accident occurred when a State transport bus collided head-on with an Army truck on national highway 37 near Sonaibali under Samaguri police station, about 26 kms from Nagaon. The victims are havildar P Ramansaimai, Lance Naiks Y S Sundarshu and Satish Kumar, constables S K Surachandra, Y K Yintsenthung, Y S Laxminarayan and Abbasi Mian Syed.Poverty-stricken woman kills kids, self Tirunelveli: A 30-year-old woman killed her two sons and a daughter, aged below nine, before committing suicide by jumping into a well at Veerakeralampudur taluk in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu on Saturday. Police said the woman, Latha, wife of a daily wage employee, took the extreme stepbecause she was unable to bear the poverty. All the bodies have been recovered. Kerala to make helmets compulsory Thiruvananthapuram: Helmet has been made compulsory for those riding two wheelers and pillion riders in Kerala from January 14 next year, the Transport Commissioner has said. The Commissioner said on Saturday strict action would be taken against those who did not wear helmet with ISI mark from that date.
