Railway police, Armymen clash at Bangalore station

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
BANGALORE, OCT 31: Four persons, including two jawans, were injured when Armymen clashed with the Railway police at the Bangalore Railway station on Friday night.

The two jawans, identified as Hussain and Srishaila, were admitted to NIMHANS for treatment, Railway sources told The Indian Express.

According to Railway police, about 300 jawans from Kashmir were stranded at Bangalore Railway station when their Army headquarters vehicles failed to pick them up on time.

In their frustration, a few Army jawans resorted to vandalism and damaged baggages. Two Railway policemen who arrived at the spot to control the situation were also beaten up by the enraged jawans. The situation became tense after local escort jawans, who had arrived with their trucks, got into a verbal duel with the Armymen who had arrived from Kashmir. A KSRP platoon deployed to the city railway defused the tension and the jawans were dispersed in the wee hours of Saturday. The jawans had arrived in the city to write an Army clericalpost examination scheduled for Sunday.

Senior Railway police officer said this was the fifth time Army jawans went on the rampage and clashed with police or other civilians at Railway stations.
