4 HVP MLAs support Chautala

UNITED NEWS OF INDIA
CHANDIGARH, OCT 31: Four legislators of the Haryana Vikas Party (HVP) today decided to offer unconditional support to Haryana Chief Minister and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) president Om Prakash Chautala.

In a joint statement here, the four MLAs Jagdish Yadav, Ram Saroop Rama, Jagdish Nayar and Subhash Chaudhary criticised HVP president and former chief minister Bansi Lal for his ``continued dictatorial attitude and biased decisions.''

They said that Bansi Lal never paid any heed to the grievances of his partymen and even snubbed them. They said that Bansi Lal had not learnt from his past mistakes which was why he was finally rejected by those who had once supported him. ``The situation for Bansi Lal became so grim that he could not even find candidates for the Lok Sabha elections,'' they said.

They also alleged that Bansi Lal was hand in glove with Haryana Congress chief Bhupinder Singh Hooda and had asked them to support the Congress candidates in all places except Bhiwani where his own son wascontesting.

The HVP legislators said that they decided to offer their unconditional support to Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala since they too, like Chautala, were committed to the welfare of the people and prosperity of the state.

The decisions taken by the Chautala government so far were revolutionary and aimed at larger interest of people of the state, they said. They also criticised Bansi Lal for misleading the people on the issue of power by making a false promise that power would be provided round-the-clock by June, 1999. They also added that during the his tenure Bansi Lal did not add even one MW power from the state resources.

``Bansi Lal tried to throttle the voice of people with high handedness by resorting to aggressive measures like police firing and registration of cases against the farmers who were demanding legitimate right of adequate power supply and water,'' they alleged. They also alleged that the family members of Bansi Lal kept on interfering with state administration.

Theyalleged that Bansi Lal had introduced prohibition only to make money and to create a mafia in the state. This also resulted in many problems including smuggling of liquor. The state also suffered a heavy financial loss, whereas the family members of Bansi Lal pocketed a huge sum of money.

They said the massive mandate which the INLD-BJP candidates had got in the recent Lok Sabha elections was ample proof of the progressive policies of Chautala. ``With Chautala coming to power, the people have now heaved a sigh of relief and are fully supporting their favourite leader,'' they added.
