Girl dead
An eight-year-old girl, Rekha Bhikhabhai Vankhede, died in the New Civil Hospital on Monday morning. The girl, a resident of Rel Rahat Colony, Man Darwaja, had accompanied her mother to the Kharwarnagar canal to wash clothes at around 10 am. However, she slipped over a stone and fainted on the spot due to head injuries. The girl was rushed to the hospital, where she died a few minutes after admission. The Udhna police have registered a case under section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Hit-and-run
An unidentified man died during the early hours of Monday, when he was hit by a vehicle on the road opposite Kotak Chemicals on Bhestan Road. A case has been registered by the Pandesara police. PSI H P Vaghela, revealed that the deceased was around 50-55 years old. Details of the vehicle or the driver are still not available. The police still investigating.

Cheated
A case against two unidentified persons, who had opened a fake travel agency in the Varachha Road area. Kishore Trikam Patel, a resident of Saurashtra Society -I approached the police stating that two persons opened `Extra City Travels' at 126 Ghanshaymnagar on Sunday and issued tickets for luxury buses going to Saurashtra. The tickets were however fake and the duo are since absconding. The Varachha police have registered a case of cheating and criminal breach of trust and are investigating further.

Goods stolen
Vadodara:
Miscreants broke into a shop in the Gorwa area in the wee hours of Sunday and stole readmade garments and sarees worth Rs 21,000. According to the shopkeeper, one Amrit Darji, thieves broke into his shop by breaking the shutter lock and decamped with the goods. In another incident, a car music system worth Rs 7,000 was stolen from a Maruti car in the Karelibaug area on Saturday. Cases have been registered and are being investigated.
