Two SIs censured

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, Nov 1: Following the inquiry into the alleged beating-up of Sector 22 resident Krishan Kumar (58) on October 7, the UT Police have issued censure notices to two sub-inspectors, Kehar Singh and Baldev Singh.

Kumar had alleged that he was thrashed by the cops at a check-point in Sector 37. The story appeared in Newsline, after which SSP C. S. R. Reddy ordered an inquiry by an inspector of the Public Grievances Cell, Inderjeet Singh.

Probe found that he had fallen from his scooter when he tried to dodge the cops who signalled him to stop for driving without a helmet. "It was the duty of the police to give him medical aid first and other formalities could have been completed later. That is why they are being censured," said an official.
