Colour me festive

Ritika Ramtri
The festive season has begun and its time to gear up for it, both in terms of clothes and makeup. Its a time when you could go a little over the top and still look pretty as a picture. With a few makeup tips and an appropriate hairdo, you could well be the belle of the season.

Begin with an even skin tone. Apply the base with a damp sponge. Remember to blend well along the jawline and neck. Apply translucent powder next for a smooth matte finish and follow up with a blusher. A cinnamon or any other spicy shade lends that enticing suntan glow and you would do well to apply in upward strokes from the apples of the cheeks to the temples. Blend evenly.

Now pay attention to your eyes. Silver and gold eyeshadow can be blended onto the eyelids. Outline the upperlids with black eyeliner. Smudge kajal on the upper lid. Give your lashes an uplift by applying mascara in layers. Let dry between coats, for that intense look. The lips also deserve attention. Live your lips by following the actual lipline. Be sure not to go beyond the line and remember to blur towards the lip. Fill in with a rich, bright lipstick. Start from the sides and go to the centre. Also match your nail colour with your lip colour.

Hair atop or tied in a low bun, both go well with the festive look. Whether its a classic top knot or a classic ponytail, make sure the look is tidy. Take your hair and gather it up in a high ponytail. Then tuck it in, and to give emphasis to the style add a looped hair-piece. You can even make a French chignon.

Other add-ons to achieve the festive look are diamante bindis, rosettes for the hair, gold and silver tattoos and glitter. Once you've got these elements together, get ready to lose yourself in the festive right uptill Diwali.
