Diwali Splurge

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
Come Diwali and all of us are busy pondering upon what to buy this year. Myriad items are available in the market this season. A few are listed below.

Buying a metal for Dhanteras is an age old tradition, and what can be better than buying silver or gold. Exquisite silver articles like dinnerware, paan-supari containers, attardanis and other such articles in various shapes are available. If you are planning to spend a fortune, nothing better than buying gold jewellery. As for gifts, small katoris, spoons, sindoor dani in silver can be bought.

Diyas are an all time favourite for Diwali. Different kinds of diyas are all over the markets. Wrought-iron diya stand is the latest. Designer diyas with wax filling and decorated with cloth, silver and golden threads look beautiful.

Flowers suit all occasions and so as for Diwali. Simply gifting a bouquet of fresh, colourful flowers is a good idea.

Dry fruits are a favourite Diwali gift item. The dryfruits can be filled in various types of containers like, clay bowls, Soga glass containers or silver bowls for that matter.

Diwali would be incomplete without rich, delectable mithai. Chocolates ranging from Swiss chocolates to our very own Indian ones are popular gift items. Other foodstuffs that can be gifted are cakes and seasonal fruits.

Along with the Diyas, candles are also associated with Diwali. Smooth, colorful candles in all shapes and sizes are available. Wrought iron candle stands can also make excellent Diwali gifts. Other gift items available in the market this Diwali are, wall clocks, tea sets, dinnerware, table mats, coasters, table cloths, torans, akashdivas, beautiful wall hangings and last but not the least, crackers.

Diwali is to commemorate the victory of good over evil. Let us forget all personal differences and make it a joyful experience. Here's wishing you a "HAPPY DIWALI".
