Gang rape case registered

SAS NAGAR, Nov 3: A case has been registered against a brick kiln owner and another person for allegedly gang raping a migrant labourer and keeping her in illegal confinement, after an inquiry by SP (detective) Roopnagar into the matter.

According to police sources, the victim, a resident of Bihar and settled in Rajpura for the past 15 years, lodged a complaint with the police that about four months back, one Gyan Zamadar alias Gayani promised her husband a job in a brick kiln in Rurka village. The victim, along with her family, Gyan Zamadar's family and one Parmod Kumar, moved to the kiln for work which was owned by one Harish.

"We started working there as bonded labour and for the past three months were paid nothing and were also not allowed to go back," she said. Then one day her husband made an attempt to escape and was successful. Afterwards the kiln owners did not allow the victim and her children to leave the place. One day Harish, along with Gyan Zamadar alias Gayani, raped her. She was locked in a room and the harassment continued for two months. She was finally rescued by a police party, accompanied by a High Court personnel.

No arrests have been made so far and a case has been registered against the alleged accused under Sections 376, 354 and 344 of the IPC in Sohana Police Station.
