PUNE, Nov 3: The Pimpri-Chinchwad New Township Development Authority (PCNTDA) is making all out efforts to get started the software technology park (STP) project near Chikhli. The massive investment of Rs 25 crore by the PCNTDA for the construction of the STP building has proved a bane for last two years because of lack of connectivity link and inadequate water supply facilities. For getting the connectivity link, the PCNTDA is to hold discussions on Thursday with Chief Executive Officer of the Software Technology Park of India S K Gupta. Divisional Commissioner Rajiv Agarwal, who is also the PCNTDA chairman, along with senior PCNTDA officials will be participating in the meeting.
PCNTDA at the recent exhibition on Information Technology in Pune had displayed the model of the STP building and also provided informative booklets regarding the facilities being made available to software professionals. According to PCNTDA Chief Executive Officer Prakash Joshi, the response by software professionals has been encouraging. Joshi while expressing confidence that the connectivity will be secured, said that PCNTDA will be inviting offers from the software professionals for utilising the shops and the software production units. The units are to be offered on a lease basis for 99 years.
The PCNTDA has already received a proposal from Tata Technologies for getting one block of the building having 36 production units. Joshi said that no decision has been taken regarding the proposal.
The three-storeyed imposing building of the STP has 84 shops at the basement besides 108 software production units. The area of the shops ranges from 150 to 250 sq feet, and the area of the software production units from 450 to 550 sq feet. The PCNTDA has also constructed 348 flats to be allotted to the software professionals on demand.
Although the construction work has been completed, the PCNTDA is yet to get water supply to the STP building from the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. Around half MLD (million liters per day) water will be required for the STP and the residential accommodation.
