These awards are given every year in memory of late revolutionary leader Datta Deshmukh and the Gaurav Puraskar is given as a life time achievement to a person for contribution to social upliftment. The awards have been instituted last year.

Gaurav Puraskar comprises of Rs 21,000, a citation and a memento, while Protsahan Puraskar carries Rs 11,000, a memento and a citation. The award distribution ceremony will be held in Mumbai on December 19, the release said and added a decision to this effect was taken at a committee meeting held here on Tuesday.
