Solkar XI capture Shatkar honours

NOVEMBER 3: Solkar XI won the Shatkar Trophy on the basis of the first innings after Gavaskar XI's attempt to chase the final total of 166 in 22 over fell short.

Gavaskar XI finished at 157 for six in 20 overs after Solkar XI declared their second innings at 80 for four after just 20 overs.

Brief score: Solkar XI 279 and 80-4 (Sahil Kukreja 30, Shaunak Gupte 30 not out; Naynesh Pawar 2-34, Saurabh Amberkar 2-17) bt Gavaskar XI 193 & 157-6 in 20 overs (Soham Dalvi 76, Rohit Salunkhe 26, Girish Vaswani 20) on the first innings.

Best Batsman: Swapnoj Thakur.

Best Bowler: Mohd Shoeb.

Best Wicketkeeper Neil Daftary.

Man of the series: Girish Vaswani.

Sinkar snaps up nine
A SPLENDID performance by medium-pacer Aditya Sinkar, who took all but one wicket in helping Vidyamandir, Dahisar beat BAK Swadhaya by 182 runs to enter the third round of the MSSA-Colgate-Inter Schools Harris Shield Cricket Tournament (45-overs) at the Shivaji Park here onWednesday.

Vidyamandir batting first went on to score 253 for nine in allotted overs. Thanks to opener Arjun Naik who contributed steady 82. In reply Swadhaya could mustered 71. Sinkar returned with remarkable figures of 8-0-38-9.

Brief scores: Vidyamandir, Dahisar 253-9 (Arjun Naik 82; Amish Parmar 3-43, Bhavik Chheda 3-67) bt BAK Swadhaya 71 (Aditya Sinkar 9-38).
