PCNTDA asked to bear capital cost of water supply works

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, Nov 5: The contentious issue of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) providing water supply to the software technology project of the Pimpri-Chinchwad New Township Development Authority (PCNTDA), appears to have been resolved.

The PCMC while agreeing to provide water supply to the STP, has asked the PCNTDA to bear the capital costs of the water supply works. The amount is said to be ranging from Rs three to Rs four crore. The PCNTDA has been asked to seek assistance from the State Government for bearing the capital cost. Around half MLD water is required for the STP building at Chikhli. The PCNTDA has been asked to complete the works of internal connections for the 348 flats.

Divisional commissioner Rajiv Agarwal, who incidentally is also the chairman of the PCNTDA, held a meeting today to discuss the issues of provision of water supply, and also getting the connectivity. In the preliminary discussions for getting the connectivity with chief executive officer of the Software Technology Park of India S K Gupta, a proposal for allotment of land for the Earth station was mooted. Gupta himself will be visiting the STP at Chikhli on November 12. A second round of discussions are likely, official sources said.
