MUMBAI, NOV 7: An altercation over a puja led to the death of a sadhu at Juhu on Sunday. According to police control, four sadhus belonging to the Anand Margi sect had gone to perform amavasya puja at Moragaon, Ruia Park, Juhu Chowpatty at 0030 hrs on Sunday.Two unidentified persons objected to them performing puja and collected a group of 10-12 people, who attacked the sadhus with bamboo and hockey sticks.
The grievously injured Acharya Totanand Avdhoot (25) was admitted to Cooper Hospital, where he died at 1.30 pm today. The other three sadhus were treated for injuries. Juhu Police has registered a case of murder and rioting and arrested one Jerome Philips Fernandes (34) in this connection. Investigations are on.
