Ex-MP seeks Pandya's help

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, Nov 7: In yet another letter, former Congress MP and scion of the erstwhile rulers of Vadodara, Ranjitsinh Gaekwad has sought Home Minister Haren Pandya's intervention to solve the traffic problems in the city.

About a week ago, he had asked Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel to use television as a medium to control population.

Observing that safe driving would soon become impossible, Gaekwad urged that the government should take the problem seriously.

Alleging that the police was inactive and ineffective, he claimed, ``On the day of polling, the policemen were missing on road junctions.''

Expressing his surprise as to why no ``mobile police traffic inspectors'' were deputed to regulate traffic on the main roads, he also expressed concern for the pedestrians. Stressing that the Vadodara Municipal Corporation and the police should coordinate their plans to solve the problem of vendors occupying the pavements, Gaekwad expressed his concern on vehicular pollution and overcrowded school autorickshaws.
