This was a shot in the arm for the Corporation which was facing a severe setback in the octroi collection because of the transporters' strike in the fourth week of October. Octroi committee chairman and his deputy claimed that the AMC's income from octroi was Rs 25.43 crore in October this year which was Rs 5.81 crore more than the Rs 19.53 crore recorded in October 1998.

Moreover, the octroi income during April to October this year stood at Rs 165.74 crore.
