UNITED NEWS OF INDIA
New delhi, Nov 7: The Bharatiya Janata Party high command has termed as ``personal'' Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh's decision to step down from his post.

Party spokesman J P Mathur told a private TV channel that the high command has invited senior functionaries from the state here tomorrow to decide on Kalyan's successor. The invitees include strong contender Kalraj Misra and state unit president Rajnath Singh.

Singh indicated yesterday that he was about to step down from office. He met Governor Suraj Bhan at the Raj Bhawan today. What transpired at the meeting is not known but speculations are rife of his having put in his papers. When confronted, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister refused to substantiate his statement that he was in the process of shifting his luggage or that he was being punished for a crime he never committed.

The hotch-potch situation in UP has invited the focus of political and bureaucratic circles to the official residence of public works department ministerKalraj Misra, who occupies the second rank in the Kalyan Singh's cabinet. His residence has been flooded with officials, party leaders, workers and mediapersons since this morning.
