Ranchi, Nov 6: Samata Party leader and Union Surface Transport Minister Nitish Kumar today said his party would help ensure passage of the Vananchal Bill whenever it is taken up by the ruling coalition in Parliament.``The party is committed to the creation of a separate Vananchal state on the condition that a special Rs 50,000 crore economic package be granted to the rest of Bihar. We will extend our full support to the relevant bill in Parliament,'' Kumar told reporters at Ranchi airport. Asked whether the special economic package would be granted only if the state is bifurcated, he said the BJP-led Government during its last stint in power at the Centre had agreed in principle to give the package to north and central Bihar if a separate Vananchal state was created.
``Moreover, now that the people of Vananchal strongly wish to be separated from Bihar, there can be no justification for clogging the process,'' Kumar who is here to review condition of national highways across the state, said. After holdinga meeting with concerned officials, the Minister is scheduled to go by road to Jaspur to assess the condition of the highways in Madhya Pradesh.
