CCF to reduce its territories in India

UNITED NEWS OF INDIA
BANGALORE, NOV 9: The Christian Children's Fund (CCF), one of the world's oldest and largest child development organisations, is planning to reduce its territory in India in a bid to make its various child development programmes effective, CCF international president John Schultz has said.

Dr Schultz, head of a high-level CCF delegation, now on a tour of the country, told newsmen here yesterday that the CCF had helped nearly 70,000 children under 114 development projects. In Karnataka, 17,660 children had been covered under 24 projects, he claimed.

The delegation visited a project near Mulbagal and reviewed the activities, including a savings bank started by women and children. ``We are proud of having accomplished our task of helping children throughout the world in their various developmental needs like health care, education and school uniforms,'' Schuttz said.

The CCF covers 31 countries by involving 4,00,000 sponsors who help poor children worldwide.

CCF National Director (India) C. Gojer saidthe organisation was implementing a number of programmes like eradication of polio in Bihar, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh in collaboration with the Centre and the World Health Organisation.

He said the CCF was also despatching a team to assess the quantum of relief needed in the cyclone-ravaged Orissa.
