Blood spills freely staining BJP in Gujarat fire

Chennai, Nov 9: Indian Airlines flight IC 440 on the Chennai-Delhi sector made an emergency landing at Nagpur today after the Airbus A-320 aircraft caught fire in its cargo hold area.Airport sources said the crew of the aircraft which was carrying 99 passengers received a smoke warning alarm from the cargo hold area. The pilot deployed the fire extinguisher and put out the fire. The pilot then alerted the Air Traffic Control and landed at the Nagpur airfield at 8.50 a.m. The flight which took off from Chennai airport at 6.40 a.m. was grounded at Nagpur airfield for over 12 hours.The IA authorities sent a relief aircraft from New Delhi which reached Nagpur around 2 p.m. Passengers who were put up in a hotel at Nagpur were taken to Delhi by the relief aircraft.The aircraft was made to land at Nagpur since the fire extinguisher was exhausted mid-air and the aircraft is not supposed to fly in such a condition.Among the VIPs on board the aircraft were BJP general secretary Venkaiah Naidu, HTL Chairman LakshmiMenon and Express Publications (Madurai) Limited Chairman and Managing Director Manoj Kumar Sonthalia.
