Raghunath Baban Lad, who is one of the 30 directors of the Municipal Cooperative Bank Limited and works as records assistant, was arrested with two others last month by the Azad Maidan police. The Standing Committee last week deferred a decision calling for the opinion from the Legal Department before any decision is taken. The legal opinion referred to the municipal commissioner's circular of 1980 whereby ``action should be taken considering the graveness of the situation.''

With the legal department having given its opinion, the Standing Committee according passed the proposal to suspend Lad from service. (ENS)
