Three booked for fraud bid

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, Nov 12: An employee of a Sector 35 firm allegedly stole away cheques and forged the signature of the firm's owner to submit it in the bank. However, the bank authorities, which had already been apprised of the act, did not clear the cheque. After receiving directions from the court, the police have registered a case of forgery and cheating against the employee, Vinod Kumar Arora and his co-accused, Manimajra resident M.L. Khanduja and Ludhiana resident Rajiv Tandon, for conspiracy.

Police sources said according to Panchkula's Sector 2 resident Amit Arora, Vinod, who worked at his firm in Sector 35, stole away two cheques worth about Rs 4.75 lakh and Rs 1.3 lakh and forged his signatures on them. He then submitted the cheques for withdrawal at the Sector 35 Canara Bank. However, the complainant had already intimated the Bank authorities about the theft, so the cheques were not honoured. No arrests have been made so far.
