Brig Chandpuri delivers lecture

PATIALA, Nov 12: A popular extension lecture on "Battle of Longewal" by Brigadier Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri, MVC, VSM, was held at the Department of Defence and Strategic Studies, Punjabi University, here, yesterday.The Brigadier narrated how he faced the onslaught of the Pakistani full tank regiment with a handful of troops and struck to the post despite being asked to withdraw in self-defence.The lecture was presided over by Prof B.S. Bhatia, Dean (Research). Commending the role played by Brigadier Chandpuri, Dr Rakesh Datta, Head of Department, brought out the glaring discrepancies. The Indian troops had to face in the Rajasthan sector during the '71 war on account of certain strategic intelligence failure, of which the Battle of Longewal was a true example.
