PUNE, Nov 12: The heads of the four divisional offices of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) have been ordered to initiate a major drive to recover water tax dues from residential as well as commercial consumers.Incidentally, the State directorate of sports managing the Balewadi sports complex and the Aundh Chest hospital, together owe to the PCMC, water charges to the tune of Rs two crore. The officers of the `D' divisional office are in a fix as to how the dues should be recovered.
The PCMC, in a bid to recover the dues, is likely to cut water supply to these two units.
The dues from the Aundh chest hospital amount to Rs 1.36 crore while the dues from the Balewadi sports complex amount to Rs 69.11 lakh. The water charges have not been paid for the past one-and-half years. The PCMC has repeatedly sent notices for payment of the dues, but there has been no response from the either of the two units.
The monthly water charges of the Balewadi sports complex amount to Rs three lakh while the water charges of the Aundh Chest Hospital amount to Rs six lakh. Incidentally the dues are as per old rates. The water charges would almost double as per new rates.
